SSEAYP TERMINOLOGY

In the SSEAYP world , there are so many technical words that we used for group-communication.  To know more about SSEAYP, you need to know more about its technical words. This page will present you some of the most interesting and commonly-used words in SSEAYP. From now on, you will no longer worry about failing to understand SSEAYP context or people anymore...

SSEAYP The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program
  The program is hosted by the Japan government with cooperation with all ASEAN countries' governments. All participating youths from 11 countries (ASEAN+Japan) will travel onboard a ship called the "Nippon Maru" for their activities both on land and onboard  for a period of 50-52 days.
   
PY Participating Youth
  The number of PYs per contingent is 28 per year, except Japan with the total number of 38.
   
CPY Cambodian Participating Youth
BPY Bruineian Participating Youth
IPY Indonesian Participating Youth
JPY Japanese Participating Youth
LPY Lao Participating Youth
MAPY Malaysian Participating Youth
MYPY Myanmarese Participating Youth
PPY Filipino Participating Youth
SPY Singaporean Participating Youth
TPY Thai Participating Youth
VPY Vietnamese Participating Youth
Ex-PY Ex-Participating Youth
   
AA Alumni Association
  Each SSEAYP country has an alumni association functioning as the center of SSEAYP coordination and affairs called "SSEAYP International" or SI. For example SIC = SSEAYP International Cambodia , SIM = SSEAYP International Malaysia. But they also have their owned other specific names such as ;
SIT  -   ASSEAY Thailand
SIM -   KABESA
SIB -   BERSATU
ASSEAY Association of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth of Thailand
  (aka SSEAYP International Thailand - SIT)
   
SI SSEAYP International
   
SIGA SSEAYP International General Assembly
  The general assembly will be held every year rotate in every SSEAYP countries. This year, SIGA was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
   
SI Award SSEAYP International Award
  Award for any ex-pys who are outstanding or have a great role in friendship and good understanding activities, normally during SIGA.
   
NL National Leader:   Head of all participating youth in each country
  Normally selected from the group of active and experienced ex-pys.
   
YL Youth Leader:   Chief of participating youth in each country
AYL Assistant Youth Leader
SG Solidarity Group  
  All participating youth from every country will be divided to solidarity group ranging from A to K for the convenience in activity.
     
IYEO International Youth Exchange Organization
  Japanese governmental organization under the Japanese Cabinet office, responsible for youth exchange activities. SSEAYP is run by IYEO.
    
OBSC On Board the Ship Conference
  SSEAYP alumni representatives from every SSEAYP country will join onboard the ship in the late of the program every year to report about their alumni activities in the past years and cooperate to create the SI magazine "SSEAYP News" together.
   
COC Cruise Operating Committee
  Committee that respond for the policy and important issue in the SSEAYP , normally are the Administrator , all NL  and the high officer of the ship. (such as Captain)
   
Administrator Chief of administrative staffs
  Normally for the Japan government. Respond for all overview of the program.
   
Captain Head of the crews
  full authority in command on board the ship for cruising (but the SSEAYP policy and activities administration are under the Administrator.)
   
COP Council of President
  All alumni association president (or representative normally the vice president) will have meeting in Japan to report their country activities and discuss about SSEAYP activities in that year. Always be held in May and June and also in the first day of SIGA
   
Network SSEAYP activities coordination and cooperation
  There are 3 main SSEAYP networks  ; Human resource network , Computer network and  travel network.
   
SWY The Ship for World Youth program
  A program similar to SSEAYP, onboard the same ship--the Nippon maru, but its PYs come from other countries outside ASEAN such as America, Europe, Africa, etc.
   
REN-200X The 21st Century Renaissance Youth Leader Invitation program
  Organized by IYEO by inviting representatives from all SSEAYP AA and some SWY'AA to join the meeting and activities in Japan. Delegations (normally 4 persons for 1 country) will be divided to 4 groups ; Leadership, Economy , Environmental and Development , Mass communication. REN-200X is a great event that lets all SSEAYP and SWY PYs join together and discuss about the future youth exchange.
